Congratulations!
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Got property here 2 years ago next week. 3 on 1. Big house an old barracks that was bought for salvage and relocated/modified. Thought we'd be living in that place but wound up with a change of plans/vision for that property. All were under contract with renters so I let it be. Even though I liked being outside town on a creek.

Finally catching my breath and able to relax a bit while in Texas. Though the 2 "cabins" need a lot of work. I can concentrate on working outside stuff for now. Doing that at my leisure and able to leave renters alone. Got hooked up with an semi retired painter/finish guy that I work really well with. Finally turning the corner on sweat equity and getting to point of improving curb appeal (exterior paint etc). Even with market down a bit the place had a lot of potential for bump in value from the price we paid.

Been back and forth more times than I can count now -- rehab'ing and getting renters back in. Basically a week or two each month. Most of those times driving from San Dog. Last winter/spring was like picking a scab on the interior in big house after renter bailed (and left a mess of course). 40 years of neglect and questionable interior decorating had to be dealt with. Worst of it was 1 bath and kitchen water damage/moldy wood. There nothing to do but keep demo'ing until all the bad was gone.

Wound up getting a 2 bdrm (+attached 1bd/1bath casita) in town that was a flip. Wife fell in love with it. First house in 40 years of marriage that she won't have to live in while I remodel. Only problem is the *VLBF's that swarm the yard and neighborhood. Kinda hard on the garden... I'm thinking city limits be d*mned. I'm getting a bow.

Been awful quiet here so reckon I ought a try some noise.

Add relocation to the retire equation. Remembering Flintlock Tom going through this 10 years or so ago.

Looking at the safe and pondering the piece by piece "sell in PRK or transport" choices?

Selling firearms goes against my grain. I'm a bit of a romantic I suppose and develop a (silly) attachment to blocks of wood and blue.

Several pieces are no brainers.
Dad's 1947 Model 70 that fed the family in Fairbanks for many years.
Grandpa's old 32 S&W he took in barter in the Depression as payment for services rendered (most likely horse training or his sorghum mill).

Next tier down, any of JMB design or with a prancing pony emblem.

Beyond that it gets harder...

What's a guy to do? Toss a coin? Heh!

If you don't need the money and are not hard limited to something like one moving truck I'd not sell. I have never heard someone wish they had sold a gun. I have heard too many stories about regretting selling a gun. Some people really hate a certain gun or another and are happy to sell it but that is about it.

I would say that anything that's been californicated, and is not practical to restore to free state spec, should be first in line for the chopping block.

Heh, not been big on compliance with the moving target that is CA gun laws. Has not so much been active defiance on my part.. More from exhaustion. Who can keep up with it?

my CA felonies will be the first to leave for Texas.
Who knows some pieces thought to be lost in boating accidents and wildfires may be miraculously found.

Hey, big D. Just checking in to see who's still around. I haven't looked in for a couple years. Congrats on taking retirement while you're still young enough to drive Mrs. M crazy.
We got our 20 acres of pine forest in southern Oregon and am working on building our 3000 square foot log home. Our initial "Log home package" burned up in a wildfire before I could get the logs stacked. So now I'm harvesting the trees on the property and running them through my sawmill to make lumber.
I don't remember if we've talked since we had breakfast at Black Bear Diner.
Anyway, now I'm telling all my lies on Northwestfirearms.com under the same "handle". Check in if you get the chance.

"God is good!"
Blessings, Tom

Seems most everyone has moved on to something else. That's how internet things seem to go.
