Yeah, my 7 series gets 28 (24 cause I put my foot on it) and the Taureg gets 18. Makes the case for higher octane fuel. I also use an octane booster in most tanks as well.

When you put 87 in my caddy, it runs like shit. The computer retards the timing, and it runs a bit rich; so not only do I get less power, the mileage sucks.
And then you have to run expensive fuel injector cleaner additives more often, but also might need to add an octane boost to help clean out the crap along with the cleaners.

Chris, even the lowly Ford Focus with it's fairly long in the tooth 4-banger will advance the timing and give you an extra 15 horses if you feed it E85. Whether the rest of the fuel system components can handle it will depend on how Ford built it of coursenot all of them have the E-85 rated fuel pump.

I thought the initial specs for that truck were going to be considerably more powerful... You should look into Hennesey before considering doing business w. them... My guess is reprogramming for performance alone will obtain most of those gains.

Those figures are based on the 5.4 engine, they also do the 6.2 so that's probably where the higher numbers you heard about came from.

And they wonder why people are buying other manufacturer's vehicles - and here I though at Ford, quality was supposed to be Job #1!!

If they're trucks are built so well, why not give them a longer warranty?
