not that bad. There are tons of options. The problem is none of them are cheap. And I got mine from the guy HTRN suggested. The rail and the rings together were just over $300. But holy shit. I could tow my car with these rings.

Larue has some (one example linked). Aero Precision [Amazon] has a much cheaper one. I'm sure there are others.
