Calcium Hypochlorite vs. SODIS for H2O Purification
Regarding volume of potentially infected water and speed of disinfection, Calcium Hypochlorite takes the prize. However, is there anything pool shock can do that solar disinfection cannot? As a follow-up, do you think one would be wise to use both processes, or would this two-stage disinfection process simply be redundant?
And may I say, from a moral point of view, I think there can be no justification for shoving snack cakes up your action.

NaClO works at night, in the dark, and on cloudy days in winter.
It also disinfects other things, not just the water, including surfaces, etc.
SODIS' main advantage is that on sunny days in a non-movable base, it takes nothing but bottles of water and sunlight, and costs nothing except time.
Bleach takes a minimal amount of recipe following, but it works fast, right now, anywhere you want to take it.
But the stuff is problematic for storage, and the more you use, the less you have.
