RIPTILE CAMMO

The place for general talk about gun, shooting, loading, camping, survival, and preparedness related tools and gear, as well as gear technology discussion, gear reviews, and gear specific "range reports" (all other types of gear should be on the back porch).

RIPTILE CAMMO

Post by Candyman »

I saw a cammo pattern called Riptile that I liked and was thinking about painting one of my ARs. It didn’t look all that hard, but I wanted to try it out on something else before I attempt to paint one of my rifles.
I had an old water bottle sitting around that looked like it would be a great test subject.

I gave it a light sanding and cleaned it up and applied a green base coat.

I then used so some netting and some gray paint for scales.

I then used painters tape to make my stencils. I just tore it into strips and put them on the bottle.

I then used a darker green paint to cover everything.

An airbrush is needed for the next step, which is to spray the edges of the stencils with black paint, need to get an air brush.
So I just gave it a shot with a can of spray paint.

I think I play with some other color combinations and get an airbrush set before I paint one of my ARs.
Do not relish to feel what the men that used these weapons felt when they saw the elephant. For the elephant has tusk and to see him is to have his tusk dig deep into your soul. You will always have a part of you that will be cold and empty.

Interesting. Thanks for the post.

The pattern reminds me somewhat of the Lizard pattern used by the Legion and others in the first phase of the Indochina war games (live fire) of the 1950's
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".
