Price check on 1917 Enfield

Post by scipioafricanus »

$850? A good price on an "excellent" 1917 Winchester Rifle.

I don't know much about these rifles, except it on the wish list.

Also looking at two Pythons 1,100 and 1,250 respectively (the wish list again).

That's a little steep. Even Simpson's surplus US rifle listings are lower on 1917s. Simpson seems to jack up their prices on most of their surplus guns, too. I went with this selection since it's over in Galesburg and might be a decent indicator of regional prices.

My Blue Book says it depends on the model and finish:

U.S. Model 1917 Enfield Rifle Original high polish blue runs about $425 for 60% finish.

U.S. Model 1917 Enfield Rifle matte blue or parkerized reworks runs about $265 for 60% finish. This is what it looks like. 100% is only worth $700, from the pictures I'd guess 80% at most.
It's not expensive if you REALLY want it.

Yeah, it is close to what I could get with one of these.
