Due to budget constraints, the current status of the USS Guncounter project has been downsized:

Thermite isn't really that hard to make, but igniting it can be a cast-iron bitch. Or home-made napalm, for that matter. (It's harder to make, but easier to ignite.)

You could use it painting a fabric covered airplane.... That's basically what the "silver" layer of dope is, that protects the fabric from UV. Butyrate dope mixed with aluminum powder.
