Ruger has announced a .22 lr version of the GP100 revolver. Ten shots. MSRP $829.00. Interesting notion, though I'd hope the street price would come down quite a bit.
I bought a Ruger Single Ten .22 lr a few years ago, after looking at what else is on the market. The S&W 617 was very nice, but MSRP was a thousand bucks or more.

I have a S&W 617 with a 6 inch barrel that I bought for $400 brand new from a NYC gun shop. Granted over 20 years ago. Six shot version, before they went to ten. No lawyer lock. Shoots.like its got eyes of its own.Darrell wrote:Ruger has announced a .22 lr version of the GP100 revolver. Ten shots. MSRP $829.00. Good grief. I bought a K-22 used, cost me $450. $1K is way too much.

When I bought my 617 and 686 a few years ago, they cost roughly the same. Somewhere in the 6-700 range iirc. MSRP always less than street price, but guns always cost more in Jersey.MarkD wrote:I have a S&W 617 with a 6 inch barrel that I bought for $400 brand new from a NYC gun shop. Sell it with a swap-able 22 Magnum cylinder and you've got my undivided attention.

That, an actual street retail of $599, and a weight lower than the Redhawk Alaskan.blackeagle603 wrote:Sell it with a swap-able 22 Magnum cylinder and you've got my undivided attention.
All the fun and Rugery goodness of the Mk III, twice the calibers, and no extra mags to buy: winner.

I have a couple of S&W .22 revolvers, four and a six-inch models. Each was second-hand, but as-new condition, and neither cost more than EUR 250 (say US$300). It pays to search around.
I do like the ruggedness and reliability of the Ruger designs, though.

They cost about the same to make, hence the near identical price.Greg wrote:When I bought my 617 and 686 a few years ago, they cost roughly the same..
