SAIGA SHOTGUN GUNFIGHTING

Post by SeekHer »

Submitted just as received in the e-mail to me from Suarez International
SAIGA SHOTGUN GUNFIGHTING

The Saiga shotgun has the potential of becoming the Glock of the shotgun world. The consensus of those who try it is that it “kicks a little more than a 7.62x39”. Then they ask where they can get one. The Saiga is miles ahead of any other combat shotgun. Our goal is to develop a combat training program worthy of this fine tool that will be miles ahead of current “tactical shotgun” doctrine. This book is the first step. If you own a Saiga shotgun, or are a student of the combat shotgun, you will find this book an interesting look into the future of combat shotgunning
The California Saiga Conversion

The CA. Assault weapon ban was the first of its kind and because of that the politicians that wrote it made some mistakes that they are constantly trying to deal with today. Since the ban, guns have to be banned by name or fall under a “so many features list” to be effected by this complicated mess of laws.

Currently in California, Saiga rifles and shotguns can be sold and even converted to a certain extent. The key is you have to either have a fixed mag that can only be removed with a “tool” or the gun cannot have a pistol grip. The Saiga is also the least expensive AK type rifle available today and hey it’s a real Russian.

Example #1 - A Saiga can have a pistol grip/buttstock configuration if the magazine is only removable with a tool. There are some innovative people making modified mag releases that require the tip of a bullet “the tool” to remove the mag, not a bad option.

Example #2 - A Saiga can be modified to receive standard high cap mags but you cannot install a pistol grip. In this case it makes since to mod the front end and mag well back to fighting spec and leave the OEM stock in place which is a better handling gun than an original buttstock without a pistol grip. Remember in the crazy world of gun laws 922R also applies so if you convert your Saiga to take high cap mags you must upgrade the number of US made parts on the gun to comply.

Example #3 - A full Saiga conversion but instead of a pistol you would use the Monster grip which is rather common in Ca. on AR-15’s and are now being made for AK’s. The benefit of this is when you leave the state all you have to do is change the pistol grip

One of the biggest problems with the Saiga is that even though it complies with Ca. law a lot of the gun stores won’t receive them. The laws are so screwed up the gun dealers don’t want to take the chance that CDOJ could come back later and mess with them. I know there are stores in Ca. excepting them so get out and find one while you can. Hopefully this info will be useful to our friends in Ca.
