Black Powder in .45 Auto-Rim for Webley

Post by Dinochrome One »

Well, I've got everything together and have loaded some .45 Auto-Rim with FFFg black powder. 20 grains/volume of powder will just fit under the properly seated bullet. I'm using the old Lee Challenger press that I used thirty years ago to load .45/70 for my Trapdoor.

I just fired one off my back porch; worked just fine!

Well, yeah, it'll work fine! Black powder has worked fine for hundreds of years.

Good on ya!

Last year, for Independence Day, I loaded up some .45 Colt and some .357 Mag cases with black powder and wax bullets for the grandkids.

Way more fun than normal folks should be allowed to have!

Well done!
Where's the Action Picture?
Was that out of the Mk1?

I'll have to get Little Sister to take some pictures of me firing the Mk1. So far, I've only fired the one test shot but I've loaded sixty rounds of Auto-Rim, so I should be able to get some target-time soon. A lot of smoke and fire comes out of the old revolver with black powder!

The load is 20 grains of FFFg measured with my adjustable powder-measure out of the old pistol flask, under the 200-grain bullets you sent me. I've also got dies for .44S&W Russian and I'm looking for a set for .38S&W on Ebay.

The old Lee loading press was put away 25 years ago and still looks new.

I have to thank you for kick-starting my reloading!

Hey! I've got the loading dies for .38 S&W but I sold all the guns of that caliber. I'll send them to you.
They're all packed away right now, but when we unload at the new place I'll ship them out.

Okay! I just paid $30 for a box of Fiocchi .38 S&W and at the rate I use them, they will last for years. So, no rush.
Thanks!

Here I am in Little Sister's front yard, firing the Webley Mk1 at box 15 yards away.
Plenty of smoke, and I got all six in the box. Next time; an actual scored target at 25 yards.
