Dear me. I made the mistake of googling the Six5 and reading some discussions. This really is a remarkably sane corner of the internet. On arfcom I saw a dickwaving personal insult contest so bad, even a published author was taking cheap shots at people.

In all practicality, what ranges are they taking shots at?

For our area of hunting, a long shot is 200-250 yards, usually under 150 yards.

I suspect at those ranges plain old 6.8 is about as good as you could want in a standard AR, for taking deer and hogs at shorter ranges. How's bullet selection?

Given that the distinguishing feature of the AKS is the underfolding stock, it seems kind of stupid to take the long range capable Grendel cartridge, and stick it in a rifle with ergonomics that discourage accurate shooting. In something like a VEPR, Valmet, or even an AK re-barrelled with a premium US blank, and with decent furniture added, you'd really have something. Better yet, get Sig to chamber the 556 for it.

But the real problem is going to be AK form magazines that will work. It may be based on the x39 case, but it has less taper, so the curve of a standard magazine is all wrong. I expect that if something like the once-rumored Saiga in Grendel ever materialized, CSSpecs and others would make magazines for it. But getting a rifle maker to produce something for which there are either no magazines currently available, or for which they would have to engineer a proprietary mag, is a bit of a tough sell. One big reason the Blackout has taken off like it has, is because it uses a standard magazine.

Mmmmmmmm wild cats , man have I spent some serious time and money on various "experimental" stuff , love the early Barns stuff like the 416 Barns, the 458 x2 and and the 308x1.5 , then their is the 450 alaskan nice. Its an addiction really.
Always thought the 416 Barns would be an awsome commercial cartridge.

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd have gotten a .41 Askins Avenger barrel for the 1911s. Bottlenecked cases are such a pain to reload, though, especially in a pistol caliber. Now, it seems to have gone the way of the buffalo. [Sigh]
