I'm looking at doing an Appleseed and taking as much of my family as will go.
.22 has been in short supply, so I think you have to take it where you can find it. Looking online, I see the manufacturers in the pole. Which ones would you buy? Choose as many as you think are OK. I've enabled changing your vote.

Winchester or Federal would be my first choices, with a preference for Federal. Have not had much luck with Remington, since none of my .22 autoloaders seem to like it and Remington seems to have more bad primers than the other two.

Federal bulk is my "go-to-works-in-every-gun" ammo. It's surely not match quality, but it's the best bulk I've come across.
Next price tier up is CCI Mini mags.
ETA: This Federal offering (if you can find any): http://www.midwayusa.com/product/953439 ... llow-point

My first choice would be SK, but they're not on the list, so I picked Lapua, CCI and Eley. They're brands I see used here a lot, and that I know are reliable. CCI seem to have an annoying tendency to have a dud here and there. But it's also the most used brand here (it's also the cheapest) and there's lots of them used every year.
But there's a difference to what you can buy here and there, and I don't have much experience with Federal and Winchester.

Federal Bulk has always done well in my semis. I used to buy a lot of Peter's blue box at the farmer's co-op, but I haven't seen that in a dozen years.

MBI, obviously.
Erik, Lapua and SK are both made in the SK factory in Germany. I really like the 500-round tin cans of Lapua, if you can find them.
Sellier & Bellot Club is good stuff. RWS club and standard are both excellent. CCI standard is OK, CCI mini-mags are great. Anything Remington is meh. Haven't shot enough Federal to have much of an opinion - maybe 1000 rounds total. Haven't seen Eley ammo in years, but remember it from home as good stuff.
All, of course, subject to finding a combination of ammo and rifle that works...

The Appleseed info recommends round nose. I see lots of HP available. Aquila has some round for not too high a price. What do you guys think of that?
Also, do you know why they'd recommend round over HP?
