a wal-mart miracle

Post by Johnnyreb »

Before today I didn't have but 2 boxes of 9mm hollowpoints in my whole "arsenal" of ammo. Mostly because I just did not want to spend at minimum 38 bucks for a box of 50 rounds when I could get 100 rounds of White Box FMJ for 22 bucks. I haven't seen 9mm hollowpoints for less than that price since the democrats took Congress, and untill this past year, at Wal-mart NOT AT ALL. Even then, never more than 1 or 2 boxes of one brand only... occasionally. which is how I got that 2nd 50 rounds of hollowpoint.

So I went to Wal-mart today to browse (bought season one of Justified, 20 bucks). And wandered past sporting goods to see how the ammo shelves looked.... and behold!

A MIRACLE!

3 100 round boxes of Remington UMC HOLLOW POINT! 26 bucks each! That's only 4 bucks more than the white box. It's been at least a month since I passed by that ammo shelf, so maybe they weren't the first to appear. But they are mine now.

And next week I'll be sure to look again.

The only part of this miracle I don't like is being asked if it was for pistol or rifle. And I've noticed that whenever I do buy any ammo at Wal-mart, the checker needs to see my driver's license, which they never need to see for just groceries.

I have this suspicion that somewhere, there is a database that knows my name and how many and what type of ammo I have purchased in the past 5 years or so from Wal-mart. A database somebody at homeland defense has access to.

I almost always use a check at Wal-Mart. Next time I buy ammo, I think I'll bring cash and see if anybody needs to see my driver's license when I buy it.

They ask the rifle or pistol question and look at your driver's license to ensure that you over the minimum age to purchase handgun (21) and rifle (18) ammo.

Unless they are scanning your license (never have for me), I think I'd have other concerns than whether your average Wal-Mart clerk can accurately manually enter your ID into a system for transfer to the black helo bunch.

All they have to do is get the ID out in the open so a camera can get a glimpse of it. The place I work at uses cameras to read bar codes from 15 feet away. /notparanoidatall

I hope you are not serious. The amount of effort and work that would entail (think cost alone) automatically rules it out for wally world.

I buy ammo at a Wal-Mart where most Canadians from the [strike]most liveable city in the world[/strike] Vancouver shop, and I've never once been asked for ID. There's some shady ass people there too, and I'm not just referring to the workers.

I have only been asked once, when I was buying 10 boxes of Federal .22 Brown box bulk pack... The clerk actually called over the manager when I said "Sub-Machine gun"

No one believes me when I buy a pallet of shotgun ammo for the Midnight Skeet program. It's for the children. Disadvantaged youths who just need a little reinforcement into making right choices. That's all.

Nothing to tell, the clerk just had no idea what to do and had to consult someone that made $2 more an hour than he did.
