Old Painless has a new post up at Box O'Truth, on tightening up groups shot out of an old rifle (a 1917 Enfield) with a bad barrel:

Also, in case you missed it a while back, OP talks about the .44 Magnum:

Interesting idea on "upping" the bullet diameter a notch for a wonky barrel. Though I would only try going up one level in bullet diameter like he did, from .308 to .311.

It seems a bit dangerous to me, but if the barrel and chamber are worn enough to allow a larger bullet, I guess it can be done safely enough.
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

Good lord. Vice grips to remove a bullet from a cartridge? Has this old boy never heard of collet bullet pullers?

When I read the article, I wondered if he tested the gun and load by pulling the trigger with a string from a safe distance. He said he checked the empty casings for any signs of overpressure and such, and they looked okay. If the bore really looks like a dried corn cob, as he says, I'd think the barrel would lead up something awful with the oversize bullets. Oh well, more power to him. Would rebarreling the gun be an option?

think it's got enough to bore to .338? Or maybe just settle for 8mm. Sure it's probably not economical but when has that ever mattered in WESCOG-land.
