The U of Alaska for CCW on facebook has 55 members , and the U of A group to support Obama has 17. Gives me a warm feeling all over.

The way our state constitution reads, there is actually a fair shot at ramming student CCW down their throats, but probably not with the liberal state supreme court that we have right now. We agitated a bit at UAF back when the permits started being issued, but nothing ever came of it. Something to do with the primary agitator failing all his classes, and getting removed from the dorms by the university. By then the spring semester was nearly over, and nobody picked it up in the fall.

Edited to add: If she had been armed, perhaps Sophie Sergie would be alive today, and her killer in the ground, instead of walking the earth unknown, and unpunished. Would have saved the U lots of settlement money and court costs too.

And before your time Ms Stanbaugh (sp?) in the early 70s , killed by a young man with a hatchet, said he was a shaman in his defence.

There were also some UAF people killed by a deranged roomate with a geology hammer, but IIRC that happened off campus, so the victims were all unarmed by choice.
