Statistically, I have found that shooting at something is much more effective than not shooting at it. Statistically.
Interestingly in NM lots of the guys up in Chama are using the .22 magnums to poach elk.

A regular .22 LR is the deer poacher's favorite around here.

This is one reason I didn't want to go with the Sierra Club to camp in Alaska.
I wasn't sure I wouldn't be the slowest in the pack, and I didn't want to forfeit any bit of advantage to GFW bylaws and go unarmed.
