First off, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!!!

Secondly, certain kinda' knives are prohibited by California state law, including certain kinds of "Trench Knives", particularly those with brass knuckles on them.

Unfortunately, California isn't the only state to regulate such knives, even for collectors. I recommend he thoroughly check his State laws as well as any local ordinances before considering such a purchase - otherwise he might be out of a LOT more than the purchase price of the knife should he be caught. It is simply NOT worth it to be in violation of the law.

Hopefully, your location might be more lenient for these kinds of knives, otherwise it simply isn't worth going to prison over some pieces of brass, steel, and iron. :) ;)
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

A person properly schooled in right and wrong is safe with any weapon. A person with no idea of good and evil is unsafe with a knitting needle, or the cap from a ballpoint pen.

I remain pessimistic given the way BATF and the anti gun crowd have become tape worms in the guts of the Republic. - toad

A Kershaw Blur is my daily carry knife
Me, too. It has a very thin profile so I hardly know it's in my pocket.

Blast you all!
So I start looking around and I find this:http://www.coldsteel.com/spfko.html
I really kinda want one, now.
....and I have no reason at all to get one.
MY EDC is a Gerber Octane multi-tool.
it has an external knife (so I can get it out without opening the whole butterfly) that suits most mundane needs.
