Sam Houston Knives close-out sale

Post by Rich Jordan »

Custom knives in D2 Steel or Damascus semi-customs. The owner passed away recently, and it looks like the family is shutting the business down.

Everything is half-off with a code (see the web page. While there's not a lot left there appears to be a good selection of smaller knives, fixed and folder.

The Damascus blades were made by Knives Ranch and sold by Sam Houston Knives. So they mostly appear to be imports, and you can compare the discount price at Sam Houston to the price at Knives Ranch.

I have just ordered a couple; I'm going by online reviews that I saw that mostly said these were nice knives. When they arrive I'll follow up here.

No connection save that when they arrive I hope I'm a satisfied customer.

Sorry to hear about the owner. Finding out you have cancer in your bones by having a bone break doing something otherwise ordinary, then being dead 3 months later..... Terrible.

Looks like all the D2 knives are gone, and all that's left is Damascus.

I snagged a couple of 3 1/2" blades. One for myself, one for gifting.

Dunno, but the one I got was D2, and it was the last of that model(?). A bushcraft knife that looked like a good general purpose knife.

I have one smallish fixed blade in D2 and I like it quite a bit. I hope it works well for you. :)

For the rest I'm just not a big fan of the Damascus look. To my eye, it's like a knife with piercings and tattoos. Not my taste.

I see Damascus blades like BBQ guns. Nice to have a show off for carry at times.

It's totally subjective. And I know I'm, um, anomalous. :)

I've seen Damascus blades that I thought were quite lovely, which would tie in with the idea of a prettier-than-normal thing for certain occasions.
