Let's Have a NJ Get-together

Post by MarkD »

I tried a couple times on the old board to interest NJ folks in getting together for a day of shooting fun, but problems always arose (mostly that you need to be a club member to shoot at most places in NJ, and most clubs have limits on the number of guests you can bring). Well, I've got something that's open to anyone.

The New Jersey Arms Collector's Club has an annual event called the "End of the Evil Empire", it's hosted at my club (Association of NJ Rifle and Pistol Club's Cherry Ridge Range), and it's open to the public. It celebrates the fall of Communism by spending a day shooting the rifles they sold to us Capitalists. There are categories for Mosins, SKS's, Tokarev's, AK's (NJ legal only), even Finns. I don't have a flyer for this event, but most times lunch is served. It's scheduled for October 26th.

I've never shot this match, but I've read the after-action reports and it looks like fun. It's quite informal, no trophies or anything like that, just a good time.

I'll sweeten the deal, if anyone wants to attend but doesn't have a rifle to shoot I'll offer my Mosin Nagant 91/30 and ammo. Maybe if we get a few different rifles we can all swap and shoot multiple categories.

When I get my hands on a flyer or more information I'll post it here (assuming that's OK with the mods of course).

That sounds really cool. Looked at my calendar and, tentatively speaking, I'm free that day. Can't speak with any certainty this early of course, things tend to come up.

They actually allow more than three gunnies to gather in NJ without arresting and defenstrating the whole bunch?

I propose the board make a special award for any member who can properly and wittily use the word defenstrate in any thread. Maybe doppleganger too!

And now you know why I didn't post much on the old forums.

Maybe we can even lure HTRN out for this event, then he can spend a day outside of NYC and in the (relatively speaking) gun-friendly state of NJ.

Even though you may feel a poweful urge, you still need to defenestrate safely. Not all the rules of firearms apply directly, but the 4th rule does- you need to be aware of your target yes, and also what is behind it. Because if you carelessly defenestrate the wrong target the Austrians will come and start raping everyone to death, and nobody wants that.

Anyway...

Yeah, it would be interesting to meet the legendary HTRN.

NJ, GUN FRIENDLY?!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

From what I heard about the current wait for FID cards, it's about as much as a headache as NYC. The only difference here is that the Pistol Permit process is worse..

BOYS, no fighting! There is plenty of room for all of us at the bottom of the gun-freedom barrel!

A while ago I considered visiting a range in Staten Island to check it out. But I found out neither my AK nor my AR were welcome in NYFC. So, I'm gonna have to give the slight upper hand to NJ. And believe me, I'm not bragging!

Mark, I may be down with that day. I have a friend who goes there who might be interested, too.

ETA: Like Mark, I am more than willing to let anyone who doesn't have a com-gun shoot one of mine. I have 2 SKSes, a MAK-90 (AK variant) and an M44 Mosin. Also have a few com-bloc hand guns, but not sure if those will be included in the festivities.
