Anyone interested in a southeast/midwest get together?

Post by Weetabix »

Rumpshot's Revenge is a bit far for me. I seem to have an aversion to spending more time driving than I spend at my destination.

I know we have some people in the swath of the country from Texas to Florida. I'm in SW MO.

Is anyone interested in a meet/eat/shoot? Precision has volunteered to cook if it's within reach. His nefarious thread has my mouth watering.

If you are interested, post your approximate location (nearest city/state you're comfortable giving), and I'll figure the weighted geographic center to minimize aggregate miles traveled, then we could pick a location very near one of the interested people so we'd have someone local to help find facilities. For an example, Birmingham, AL is within about 400 miles of most of LA, AR, MS, TN, KY, SC, GA, FL, and western NC.

Maybe it could be a yearly thing.

There's a polling website you can post proposed dates for people to pick their preferred date(s). After we hear who all is interested, I'll send a link to individuals inviting them to vote for a date.

As our esteemed skb says, "Fire Away"

ETA: FirstShirt - aren't you in AL?

Mine is listed with my avatar. I'd be up for that. One of these days, I'd also love to go to RR.

About 90 miles NNW from Birmingham, about 120 miles due south from Nashville.

Or you can find the spot on I-65 that's approximately equidistant from Birmingham and Nashville, and I'm about 35 miles west of that. :D

If the space shuttle had blown up on launch, it would have hit my house.

If we do it near (or with enough lead time) Oleg would probably come. Speaking of which, after we get our shit organized, lets invite some others who are outside the forum: Rob Allen, Tam, Chris Muir, Jennifer and ER...

What are the chances that inviting "celebrities" turns it into a Shooticon as opposed to just a gathering? I don't mind being in a group where a "celebrity" is present (I'm not prejudiced, mind you :P ) but I don't like being in crowds where the "celebrity" and the crowd both think the "celebrity" is a celebrity. I personally prefer just folk.

ETA: I don't object to the idea of inviting people from outside, I'd just want to know ahead of time what it would do to the atmosphere.

For RR I routinely invite "outsiders" and Specifically Kevin Baker. He was at the NoR Shoot in Phoenix. Tam and Breda, amongst others are aware of us.
