Granite Mountain Hotshot Benefit

Post by Rumpshot »

On Aug 29, 2013 there will be a benefit/fund raiser auction will be held at Tim's Toyota in Prescott Valley. I will post more details as I get them.

I know both of the primary organizers. Steve Sams spent years as a firefighter and within the last three years has retired as a seasonal instructor for hot shot crews. If he did not personally know all 19 of this crew, he definitely knew their immediate supervisors.

Up for bid are a number of hunts, including an African Safari, over 30 rifles, and Lord only knows what else. The sponsors are still soliciting donations. J&G Sales will be the FFL for firearms transactions.

The auction will be live/telephone/internet.

GRANITE MTN. HOTSHOT BENEFIT BANQUET
Sponsored by
Caring Conservation Minded Organizations and Community Members

On June 30, 2013, 19 wildland fire fighters from the Granite Mountain Hotshot Crew from Prescott, Arizona lost their lives while fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire. These dedicated young men lost their lives protecting our natural resources and private property. The devastation to their families is unimaginable.
We are holding a benefit banquet for the families of these Fallen Heroes and the lone survivor on August 29 at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley. All proceeds from the event will be distributed to charities benefiting the families. At this time we are looking at splitting the proceeds between scholarships, Fallen Fighter Fund, and direct payment to the families, but we are working with the Prescott Fire Department to assist us in determining the final mix.
The following organizations are partnering with us to put on this event, and others are joining daily:
National Wild Turkey Federation Arizona Wildlife Federation
Mule Deer Foundation Arizona Sportsmen For Wildlife Conservation
Trout Unlimited Granite Mountain Archers
Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Gunsite Academy
Safari Club International-Tucson J&G Sales
We are reaching out to you seeking support in several ways. We are looking for donated hunts, fishing trips, firearms, archery and fishing equipment, airline tickets, airline miles, river trips, ski passes, the use of a condo or time share, or any other item that can be auctioned to raise money for these families. Of course we would also welcome monetary donations to help offset the cost of putting on the banquet. We are planning an event for 500-800 people so we need assistance from groups and individuals to help plan the event and work the event. J&G Sales in Prescott will be the FFL for the event. Any donated firearms need to be sent to them.
If you or your organization are willing to help, our contact information is listed below. All funds received will be deposited in the Granite Mountain Hotshot fund at Chase bank. All Chase Banks in the Tri City area have the account number and will accept donations at the bank. Mailed checks should be made to Arizona State Chapter, NWTF with Granite Mtn. Hotshots in the notation block. Mail checks to:
Arizona State Chapter, NWTF
