Okay, talked with Home Six and she says we're not going to Australia until after the new year. She's ready to come up for the festivities. Y'all want the 20 pound loose Tannerite or the half pound charges? And does anyone have an old car they don't want? Ice chests are for wusses.
Going to be an exciting three weeks for us. Oct 21-22, we'll be at Shakespeare Ghost Town; the next weekend we're going to be in Mesilla, New Mexico doing Civil War stuff. Then we've got RR.

Loose is good. I have containers. A car on the National Forest would not go over well at all. Glad you are rescheduling the Oz trip. It is worth taking.

Re: Rumpshot's Revenge 2012
Acquired two new pieces of steel yesterday. 2'X2' square of 3/8" diamond plate and a ~20" circle of 5/8" plate. About 140 pounds worth of steel!
These will need transport UP the hill. By someone who has NOT had a heart attack in the last 5 years. Youth is good!
I will get both drilled for mounting.
I think the diamond plate will be easy enough to pierce with rifle fire. The round should be a bit harder.
Thinking of using the diamond plate for the .45-70 competition. Round nosed, lead slugs should make it ring without doing too much damage. Our current long range target is about 265 yards out. I hope the new .45-70 range will be further....

Neither one of us could hit almost 5 square feet of steel at the current range!
Oh! Wait, I mean, man, was it windy out there!

repost from earlier on this thread:
Location from Google Earth: "Rumpshot's Revenge" lat=34.9864312648, lon=-112.498974592
Linky No pushpin to mark the location this way. Near the northernmost point on FS174 is a two track road that goes up into the canyon.

The date is approaching, who is coming?
I'm bringing at least 1 and maybe up to 5 people depending on schedules etc. I'll know better as things firm up.
I have about 3 pounds of Tannerite left, but that is clearly not enough.

Wife and I are scheduled to come. Haven't figured out the arsenal yet. Gonna be light on big boomers this time I think.

Little Sister and I have been planning for this since 2011. I'll be bringing some of the same guns as last time, and the Rogers&Spencer for the revolver match. Our accommodations will be the same as last time; close to the book store. We'll try to arrive on 1 November to help set things up.
