The next day the radio station that we tuned in at work was playing all kinds of sappy "tribute" music. talking about the "tragedy". I still get pissed at that. It wasn't a tragedy you freaking stupid sheep! It was a Motherfrakkin' ATROCITY.

My reaction was (and is) not sorrow, not fear, but anger. I don't need to "heal", I don't need "closure", I demand vengeance. Not only for those that died, but so that more won't die because those barbarians will be too scared to even think of pulling something like that on us again.

They were taking requests, but I guess they didn't feel my choice was "appropriate".

Invincible
(From the Legend of Billy Jean)
Pat Benetar

This bloody road remains a mystery
this sudden darkness fills the air
what we waiting for?
wont anybody help us
what we waiting for?

(Chorus)
We cant afford to be innocent
stand up and face the enemy
its a do or die situation
we will be invincible

This shattered dream you can not justify
we're gonna scream until we're satisfied
what are we running for?
we've got the right to be angry
what are we running for
when there's nowhere we can run to anymore

(Chorus)
We cant afford to be innocent
stand up and face the enemy
its a do or die situation
we will be invincible

and with the power of conviction
there's is no sacrifice
its a do or die situation
we will be invincible

wont anybody help us
what are we running for
when there's nowhere, nowhere we can run to anymore

(Chorus)
We cant afford to be innocent
stand up and face the enemy
its a do or die situation
we will be invincible

and with the power of conviction
there's is no sacrifice
its a do or die situation
we will be invincible

While I did not learn about this one until well after 911, I feel it should be the Theme song for WWIV:

MARCH OF CAMBREADTH

(Author: Heather Alexander)

Axes flash, broadswords swing
Shining armors’ piercing ring
Horses run with polished shield
Fight those bastards ‘til they yield

Midnight mare, blood red roan
Fight to keep this land your own
Sound the horn and call the cry
How many of them can we make die?

Follow orders as you’re told
Make their yellow blood run cold
Fight until you die or drop
A force like ours is hard to stop

Close your mind to stress and pain
Fight ‘til you’re no longer sane
Let not one damn cur pass by
How many of them can we make die?

Guard your women and children well
Send these bastards back to Hell
We’ll teach them the ways of war
And they won’t come here anymore

Use your shield and use your head
Fight ‘til everyone is dead
Raise the flag up to the sky
How many of them can we make die?

Dawn has broke, the time has come
Move your feet to the marching drum
We’ll win the war and pay the toll
Fight as one in heart and soul

Midnight mare and blood red roan
Fight to keep this land your own
Sound the horn and call the cry
How many of them can we make die?

Axes flash, broadswords swing
Shining armors’ piercing ring
Horses run with polished shield
Fight those bastards ‘til they yield

Midnight mare and blood red roan
Fight to keep this land your own
Sound the horn and call the cry
How many of them can we make die?
How many of them can we make die?
How many of them can we make die?

Like Randy, I went right to rage mode while my wife (at the time) sat on the couch and sobbed for almost a week. That afternoon, I watched the towers burn from the mountainside house of a friend whose husband worked there. She hadn't heard from him all day and was a mess. Thankfully, he finally got through to her around 6 pm and arrived home around 10 pm. He's never been the same.

My song for this event was and is Metallica's Don't Tread on Me:

don't tread on me
so don't tread on me

liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
once you provoke her, rattling of her tail
never begins it, never, but once engaged...
never surrenders, showing the fangs of rage

so don't tread on me

so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore...

don't tread on me

love it or leave it, she with the deadly bite
quick is the blue tongue, forked as lighting strike
shining with brightness, always on surveillance
the eyes, they never close, emblem of vigilance no, no, no

so don't tread on me

so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore...

don't tread on me

so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war

liberty or death, what we so proudly hail
once you provoke her, rattling on her tail

so be it
threaten no more
to secure peace is to prepare for war
so be it
settle the score
touch me again for the words that you will hear evermore...

don't tread on me

There is nothing to get over, it's time for the bastards to pay the piper.

I had been at work, headed to one of the clinics to learn how to schedule clinics and deal with customers.

Not much was learned that day.

In the following weeks, though, I had gotten enraged down to my RNA that one of the fans on Mack Bolan-dot-com lamented that the heroes of Flight 93 didn't say "Live Large" instead of "Let's Roll."

Thousands of people dead, and you're worried about pulp marketing?

Needless to say, that informed my passive aggressive form of anger at internet stupidity until this day.

And after I learned the nationalities of the psychopathic murderers involved, and where the Wahabbist brand of mind-poison originated, I've not so much against foreign oil as wanting to eliminate the leadership of a particular nation that's been yanking the US around by a loop of piano wire around our collective scrotum and formenting sociopaths in multiple nations.

I was in Ft. Benning, GA at the time, over halfway through my Basic Training. It started out like any normal day, wake up at 0530, PT and then breakfast. After breakfast we got dressed in our BDUs, to attend the changing of command ceremony for our new CO.

As we waited around the side of the barracks getting ready to march into formation in the front, our drill sergeant came around to tell us that 2 planes had hit the twin towers. No more information than that. A lot of us were unsure of what to make of it, but before we had the time to think, we ended up going forward with the ceremony. I and a few others were told to stay behind afterwards to clean up the Drill Sergeant's break room.

In the Drill Sergeant's break room, the TV was on and showed the images of the towers collapsing. I never will forget it. When we returned to the bay, we had to toe the line. Our main Drill sergeant came up and started ranting on about the bastards that did this, throwing anything he could get his hands on. After a good "smoking session" the Drill Sergeant left and we were cleaning up the mess at which point all of us who cleaned up the break room were left to tell the others what we saw(the first paper we got was almost a week afterwards).

From that day on, we trained even harder, preparing for what lie ahead. The Drill Sergeants also started replacing Ho Chi Minh with Osama like you see in FMJ.

I'll never forget that day.
