Tell me this is a joke...

I wasn't sure whether to put this in politics or the war room, but apparently retired Gen. David Petraeus is getting chummy with the anti gun crowd. Any chance this is a hoax?

Looks like he might actually want a crack at the white house... as a democrat. Would be a good strategy for a guy who needs to get around a scandal.

Well, if you want the media to ignore your particular scandal, being a Democrat seems to be the best course of action.

No, it's no joke. But, I've always suspected that Petraeus is a prick, simply because most flag officers are. And, most flag officers are socialists and anti-2A, since about Y2k. I can't think of a single good one since Schwarzkopf, but I've been in the whiskey for a couple of hours.

Agree with PawPaw.

A few years ago, I was at a talk by a senior US Army officer who reported directly to Gen. Petraeus. Amid mutterings of those around me about how "ridiculous" my question was, I asked if US Army commanders would ever order their soldiers to fire on US citizens.

He hemmed and hawed, and had a lot of weasel words in his answer, but the bottom line was "yes."

If you have certain ambitions you hope to maintain even after a scandal of a certain level, being a Democrat is the ONLY available path forward.
