I am a bit surprised at how much they bounced her off the bumpers at the end.

Also, any idea what the two items covered by cloth on the stern are? Looking at other ships in the class, it looks like a pair of brass covered ports of some sort.

They're the screws. Unless you meant something up higher.

I think he means the two brass stern ports outboard of the name, high up on the starboard fantail.

Ah.
Those are the AN/SLQ-25 Nixie fairleads, for the towed decoys.
The Burke class mounts two of them.
