Perhaps they shouldn't have allowed the mighty Black Sea Fleet rust away 'til it's no larger than a small Amphibious Ready Group...

So the Politburo (and that's what I'm calling it now) has their panties all in a twist over us moving ships into the Black Sea?
Too f***ing bad. I'll confess to a certain amount of trepidation when they initiated hostile actions against a sovereign nation they had previously invaded.
They want to act like the big kid on the block? Fine, but don't expect everyone else to let them do whatever they want.

Those whiners are calling a Coast Guard cutter a military ship?? I mean it technically is, but it's far from one of our regular warships.
POLITICIANS & DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON

Well, the Dallas isn't that much smaller than a Perry-class frigate. Plus, there's at least one US DDG there, in addition to some other NATO destroyers.

Well, the Georgian foreign ministry called the cutter a "coast guard battleship". Cue mental images of an Iowa painted white, with an orange / on the bow...308Mike wrote:Those whiners are calling a Coast Guard cutter a military ship?? Sort of like putting a bulldozer blade and plow hitch on a Bolo MKXXVII Continental Siege Unit and labeling it "Agricultural Equipment".Cybrludite wrote: Cue mental images of an Iowa painted white, with an orange / on the bow...

Re: NATO ships cause alarm in Moscow
Well technically its my understanding that Coast Guard ships specifically are not military vessels (technically a police ship) by international treaties unless it is flying under a naval flag and command. This is how they can get away with boarding other countries ships without it causing an act of war. This is also why when US Navy destroyers are hunting drug runners, when they spot one they run up Coast Guard colors and the senior Coast Guard Officer technically "takes command" so they can board the vessel and not be accused of committing an act of war. This is probably a big reason on why this vessel was selected to "test the waters" because while it is still armed it isn't a military vessel and thus is "less threatening" to other military vessels in the area and wouldn't give the Russians any excuses if it was boarded or fired upon.308Mike wrote:Those whiners are calling a Coast Guard cutter a military ship??
