I was dithering on whether or not to go to the St. Louis FC game in Fenton tonight or go to the Jr. Blues game up here in Springfield. The riots helped my decision process.

Turns out that a friend of a friend type - we weren't close but we had lots of mutual friends - from HS went to college in St Louis and has been here ever since. He and his husband love it here.

He's a bit (yes, understatement) liberal, but also intelligent and analytical.

He's actually been starting discussions on FB supporting any kind of peaceful protest, but wondering what burning and otherwise destroying the property of innocent third parties accomplishes (not only ethically but tactically - it's not just wrong it's counterproductive because it inspires backlash) or, basically, if police attention turns out so badly for black people, why doesn't the black community just try killing each other less.

Oh it's marvelous. Poor guy has had some of his "friends" (and these are the white ones) more or less telling him to shut up, and one suggested classes he could take to 'get over his whiteness'. The black ones have been hysterical, in a 'how could you be so cruel, I'm so triggered I'm sitting here shaking and sobbing' way.

The real surprise was that he was tried. If even the Post Disgrace is pointing that out, then duh.

I do not know if it was a good shoot or not, but there does not seem to be any doubt that he was a heroin dealer - if the cops capped a heroin dealer in my neighborhood I would be offering them a hot cup of coffee and a handshake without too much regard to the niceties.

This is likely not a shock to anyone, but just be sure; I would like to point out that from close observation it is entirely possible to live your entire life in the St. Louis area as a black person without having any negative encounters with law enforcement in any way shape or form.

.... so if you are [strike]black[/strike] any race whatsoever and having issues with law enforcement - I would suggest you start by examining your own behavior first.

A friend was telling me this weekend about something he'd heard on local radio - black people calling in talking about all the random stops by police and being followed around in Walmart to make sure they weren't shoplifting.

This is a bit condensed for space, but I had to wonder - did they have other characteristics that would bring on attention besides skin color? I tend to judge people by how they present themselves rather than by skin color. You know the uniform - baggy pants, scruffy "urban" clothes and hats, a certain swagger, etc.

So, my question is, has your close observation seen tailing in stores or other non-LEO close scrutiny based on race? Or is almost all of it based on the behavior you mentioned?

Sounds like your friend of a friend is on the cusp of taking the red pill.

Between the "payout/payoff culture" engendered in the lower classes and the destruction of small local businesses, St. Louis is going to wind up with its tax base being the Cardinals, the Blues and casino traffic. Definitely not what you want for a city.

And watch the for-sale signs pop up faster if the rumors of a forced merger between city and county come to fruition.
