A modest Proposal

Post by Vonz90 »

I am not super motivated for the border wall. (I am generally for it, but I think other priorities for enforcement are more important.)

However, if we are going to do it. Why not just hold everyone we catch trying to cross over in camps. Let them spend their time building the wall while they wait for their court date. If at any time they decide to head back to their home before their court date, fine; but they first have to sign a document agreeing to a durable deportation order against them.

That way, the more that try to sneak in, the faster the wall gets built.

Just a thought.

IANAL, but I think you're allowed to make prisoners work.

Of course, the smart ones would build in weak spots, maybe.

that smacks of forced labor and the left would have the optics they want:
"forced labor" - the ability to scream latin slaves at the top of their lungs
"internment camps" - the left would scream rounding up illegals and putting them in camps and the list goes on.

Now as a threat...tell the mexican "government" any of their citizens or any other citizens crossing their border to get to the US will be sentenced to 6 months hard labor building the wall under US corporate supervision. Hard labor to be 10 hour days 6 days per week of manual construction labor. Anyone under the age of 14 will be exempt from the labor provision, but they will be immediately returned (not less than 3 days) after capture WITHOUT any family members who are over the age of 14 who are doing hard labor. Any pregnant women, infirm, insane or convicted felons will also be returned in the same manner. Those caught bringing in drugs will be worked in separate groups for 12 months (shifts will be for 12 hours per day 13 or 1 off) and if they are model workers, will be repatriated to Mexico. If they cause any significant issues, they will be remanded before a tribunal for determination of penalty; minimum sentence being 12 more months - maximum penalty being summary execution depending on the crime.

As with all threats it must be acted upon. But having the apparatus set up, alone will cut illegal immigration by 50%

Also any schenanigans at the North border or any of the ports will get the same treatment. Moved to the wall building area and repatriated to Mexico regardless of their nation of origin.

The Left only cares about power / control, we all know that. But even their talk about sandwiches-- referring to diners in the 50's is a poor example / comparison. All diners were like that and NO religious right was being trampled to force integration. The florist even suggested gay friendly florists and has a well cited religious conviction. She isn't even anti-gay long term customers is a clue there.

Bastards in that court / circus.

Exactly right. I have said it before, and some people didn't believe me. They WILL sue a church to demand they get married there. It is coming, although a mosque would be more fun.

They'll never try a mosque, for the same reason PETA will never go to Sturgis to throw paint. Being martyred on FB Live is not part of the plan.

yeah, I've been proposing this for years. To avoid the forced labor charges, make it an option. Be deported now, or stay in camps with 3 slops and a flop, and we'll pay you Federal min wage. Work em, house em and feed em like troops at a FOB or at sea. 12 on/12 off/365. An occasional half day off. Badabingbadaboom -- bargain for US taxpayers seeing as how most just turn right around and try crossing again. Maybe make the service for non-felons earn points toward consideration for later legal re-entry.

Except for felon illegals... forced labor for them. Old school chain gang stuff making big rocks into small rocks and digging footings by hand. That would be a feature, not a bug. Those optics would be part of a real solution.

Yeah, it's all about looking like you care, without actually caring. Same way everybody wanted to pose with sad-face selfies and signs like #bringbackourgirls when Boko Haram kidnapped all those Nigerian school girls. They accomplished absolutely nothing, but it gave them a chance to feel good about themselves.

If they really cared, they'd have gotten off their checkbooks, and sponsored some retired professionals with the assignment to rescue the girls and kill the kidnappers. But that would have required real money, and real effort, so that wasn't going to happen.
