America is "Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."
Canada is "Peace, Order, and Good Government."
Many things about Canadian culture seem to be very liberal, but other aspects are more conservative than America in the Fifties (Now I have to find Art Buchwald's satire of how the fifties were).

The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
