Any bets on how long before Obama gives Cuba the keys to Gitmo?
one can be a Democrat, or one can choose to be an American.

I'm told that before the Castro era, Cuba was known for cigars, hookers, and rum. I'm told that the good cigar makers fled to the Dominican Republic. The big rum makers fled also. I can't imagine that the hooker industry fared any better.

Reagan should have liberated Cuba like he liberated East Germany. Y'all do remember East Germany?

Hopefully soon, with a Republican president, a MEU can stage out of Gitmo and hunt down the Castro brothers and their henchmen. The idea of communists hanging from light poles warms the imagination.

Whatever.

Keys to Gitmo? No problem. Sign a 99-year lease, and you can have the keys in 2114, no questions asked.

Normalized relations? Piece of cake.
Phase One:
Round up the Marielitos from Castro's douche-dumps, and repatriate every last one of them home, by force if necessary, with no provision or option for claiming the need for political asylum.
When the last one has touched down on Cuban soil again, relations are normalized.
Phase Two:
Ship Michael Moore's fat ass down there, and inform him that under the provisions of ObamaCare, he's now permanently enrolled in the Cuban Health Care System, for life, including routine medical treatment.
Phase Three:
Anyone who wishes to emigrate from either country to the other shall be given carte blanche to do so, upon demand, immediately.
Both the patriotism and IQ of both countries will increase, overnight.
Phase Four:
Anyone in the US on public assistance, and in possession of all four limbs and serviceable eyesight, shall be informed that they can either elect to pick sugar in Cuba to earn their welfare checks, or forfeit same in perpetuity. Dealer's choice.
Phase Five:
Any Cuban who wishes to come to the US to work is given an immediate work permit, and the right to make unlimited tax free money transfers to Cuba for the rest of their natural life, with two ironclad provisos:
1) They must work for the minimum wage or better without fail;
2) For each work visa issued, and owing to their demonstrated expertise at the task, Cuba agrees to accept one LWOP prison convict from the US, to be housed henceforth in a Cuban prison, on their nickel, in perpetuity. There shall be no limit on the number of work visas nor convicts exchanged, ever.
Phase Six:
Announce a crackdown on illegal aliens in the U.S., and the announcement that any one apprehended for immigration violations in the US will serve six month's confinement harvesting sugar cane in Cuba before repatriation to their country of origin.

Ayup... The whole thing has a bit of a special place for me since I grew up knowing so many Cuban expats.
