To all the folks who claim this was a CIA hit on Kirsten, let me just say that even the CIA knows better than to come down here at 2 AM. As I mentioned in the main thread on the subject, Montegut St. is in very poor shape out this way. She would have had to have been walking her bike due to the fact that there were meter wide gaps in the street pavement. The sidewalk was likewise cracked, tilted, and/or overgrown. No pictures of that, because the local rock-slingers were plying their trade, and aren't known to be fond of having cameras pointed at them.
This is the intermodal cargo terminal that's just to the west. Containers bound for the local area from the port are brought here by train to be put onto trucks. The distortion is from the fact that I have a cheap digicam, and I wasn't stopping to take my pictures.

A partially burned house in the 2900th block of Laussat Place.

Looking west down Laussat Pl. This is the 3000th block. Somewhere along here is where the murder took place.

The view to the right. The next house over was being worked on by a single Mexican. I would assume he is living there and patching things up himself as this was a Sunday morning when I made my recon run. The other houses on this side looked like this one. Note the search markings left by what appears to have been the Arizona National Guard. In particular notice how far off the ground they are. That was done from a boat, not a ladder.

This is the only house still standing on the left hand side of the street. Clearly the owner is an optimist...

This is the corner with Feliciana St, and the start of the [strike]3150[/strike] 3050 block of Laussat Pl.

The surrounding neighborhood improves as you move towards St. Claude Ave, but I really don't suggest going there at night. Or, really, during the day. I stood out like a sore thumb down there. I had no problems nor any direct threats, but I only made one pass, got my photos, and got out. Hopefully this will put to rest the notion that this was a CIA hit by making it clear that this is a very bad neighborhood. If you don't live there, don't go there. In particular, don't go there effectively on foot at two in the morning. And by "effectively on foot", I mean don't go there on any two wheeled conveyance, nor in a four wheeled one without at least a half-foot of ground clearance.
(Edited because I noticed a typo)
