Glory is a good one that I have actually seen. I do not watch many movies and after my 3rd deployment my desire for war movies pretty much tanked.

I will say that reading "We Were Soldiers Once and Young" while on deployment with artillery in the background added a certain something to the experience.

It's set during, and just after the war between the states, but I don't consider it a really a civil war film.

Have you seen Ride with the Devil? I've seen it mentioned a few times elsewhere as an excellent movie, focusing on the Missouri/Kansas border war during the conflict, but I haven't seen it.
