Psychiatrist Violates Professional Standards to Comment on Trump

Post by Jered »

Dr. Bandy Lee, who has also briefed congressional Democrats about the president, told NPR’s On Point Monday that "we are seeing some of the signs of a crisis mode" amid indictments of Trump associates like Paul Manafort.

“I’ve been using the word unraveling,” Lee, on the faculty at the Yale School of Medicine's Law and Psychiatry Division, told guest host Ray Suarez. “What happens is that one's ability to keep oneself together is falling apart.”
That's covered in Rule #7 of the APA guidelines. Unless they have seen a public figure as a patient and have obtained consent, then psychiatrists should not be commenting about public officials in a professional capacity.

Bandy's license in Connecticut has been expired, too.

Those of us old enough remember the ads about the majority of psychiatrists being sure Goldwater was crazy. Not a peep from the AMA or any professional group of shrinks, which let Johnson/Humphrey get away with it.
A weak government usually remains a servant of citizens, while a strong government usually becomes the master of its subjects.

A choice, not an echo. - Goldwater campaign, 1964
