Some people here in TN are attempting to get me to put my had in the ring for TN general Assembly. I am proof against such nonsense until 2020 as I won't have been a resident for 3 years until then.
If when I do run, I will run on Hard Facts, Good policies, NO BS or PC genuflecting and I will do some (perhaps most) of my ads like Black Rifle Coffee Company. Direct, in your face, leaving little to ambiguity and quite funny ( I hope ) as I skewer the retards.

Well it certainly did not work. The GOP was down across the board in VA (and NJ, but that was a given). I think this shows some of the limit of a Trump centric GOP. He personally motivates a lot of people (apparently) but that does not carry over to the the rest of the GOP. This is not unlike Obama's impact for the Dems.Vonz90 wrote:Otherwise known as highlighting conservative things on which a majority of voters agree but Democrats dislike.

I think part of the problem was the messenger. Gillespie was a long time establishment kind of guy, so he did not sound very convincing on some of the issues (I would rather he soft pedaled the Confederate monument thing too, but I am not a VA voter so ???). In the end he did not reassure the suburban voters and did not motivate the lower middle class voters.

Gillespie was not the real deal so that is a confounding factor (Establishment Repub in MAGA clothing). Not sure what to make of this.
Perhaps of greater significance is the felon vote that's now made it's entrance into the VA electoral calculus.

To put it another way: Gillespie ran a JEB! campaign in a Trump world.blackeagle603 wrote:Gillespie was not the real deal so that is a confounding factor (Establishment Repub in MAGA clothing). Not sure what to make of this.

Or to look at it in another way, he lost by almost exactly the same percentage that Trump lost Virginia by.Langenator wrote:To put it another way: Gillespie ran a JEB! campaign in a Trump world.blackeagle603 wrote:Gillespie was not the real deal so that is a confounding factor (Establishment Repub in MAGA clothing).
