Based on the 2017 election results, I'm going to have to guess a lot..
The 'client' part of the patron-client party have to live somewhere.

Where the patron part lives are generally pretty nice areas.

Not even strictly rich rich areas. The places where upper middle class liberals live tend to be *very* nice. So nice they go to some lengths to keep the client classes (and their various dysfunctions, which a proper upper middle class liberal personally privately loathes) OUT. No irony there, of course.

Not surprised. Right now it's a certain demographic slaughtering each other in their own areas. Let it spill over into the patron areas and you'll see a lack of tolerance so quick it'll make your head spin.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

East New York is one of the five worst neighborhoods in the city for homicides.

Well isn't it lovely how things change. Used to be 'at least it's not Bushwick or Bed-Stuy'.

Bushwick is rapidly being gentrified by the hipsters who can't afford Williamsburg. Bed Stuy is one of the other five. And east new York was always a shithole.

I know. I lived next door to it, from 82-89. I've walked through it, at least skirting the edges, and where I lived the only way to get *anywhere* at all except by boat was to pass through East New York.

My dad still lives there, so whenever I would visit I would get at least some of the East New York experience.

People in Howard Beach may or may not be racist, but the way they are infamous for reacting is a perfectly legitimate response to always having yutes from some of the East New York projects coming down across the Belt to steal their shit.

Oh and still processing the 'gentrified Bushwick' concept. I rode the Canarsie line to school every day from 83-89 (sometimes on the way home I'd go another longer way just to, you know, not take the Canarsie line) and I always ranked the stops by degree of the murder hazard should I get off there. (Made for interesting conversation with my friend who lived near the Livonia Ave stop. To quote "never get off here, they would murder you".) The Bushwick ones were way up there. Transit Police were at risk of being murdered if they got off there.

Shut up Racist!

I would like to see this by zip code. By county a lot of this is obscured.
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .

If you're interested in Chicago crime stats, heyjackass.com is a great place for seeing it in terms even an alderman could read. He'd still ignore it, but at least he could read it.

Why would you assume that an alderman could read? I've seen no evidence to date to prove that. (I've got cousins living in Chicago and surrounding suburbs. The stories they tell!)
