Surprise, surprise.
The avalanche has already started. It is too late for the pebbles to vote.

I always wondered why the rush to bring them over, as opposed to helping them where they are.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Perhaps to get them away from the kleptocracy, both governmental and familial.skb12172 wrote:I always wondered why the rush to bring them over, as opposed to helping them where they are.
Just guessing, as usual.
A weak government usually remains a servant of citizens, while a strong government usually becomes the master of its subjects.

Because reasons. I don't know. It makes more sense from a logistical standpoint to help them where they are. If we set up camps over there, are they starving? No. Are they getting murdered? No.skb12172 wrote:I always wondered why the rush to bring them over, as opposed to helping them where they are.
That's probably cheaper, too.
...and good grief...In addition to receiving $7,000 to $11,000 a year per adult under provincial welfare programs, the Canada Child Benefit credit provides $6,400 for each child under six and $5,400 a year for each child between six and 17. The families are also eligible for GST and other tax rebates.
They aren't doing very well in Canada.Syrian families with four or more children – which make up the majority of Syrian families that have come to Canada – can get about $50,000 a year in various taxpayer-funded social-service benefits.
...and a significant number of them are illiterate peasants.
Learning English, Hosgood adds, is especially difficult for the significant number of Syrian refugee adults who are not able to read or write in their native Arabic.
...and...Just over half of the adults among the 9,000 Syrian refugees who have been privately sponsored in Canada, largely by churches and other religious organizations, have jobs, Immigration official Chantal Goyette said in a talk delivered at the March Metropolis conference in Montreal.
But only 10 per cent of the adults among the 15,000 refugees who are categorized as “government-assisted,” and who are typically less educated, have jobs in Canada, said Goyette.
