If someone is pounding on your door, DON'T OPEN THE DOOR!

From an oblique angle at a considerable distance; preferably behind real cover.
I'm not old--It's too early to be this late.

Get a double barreled shotgun and fire two blasts in the air.

True dat. Still doesn't give the cops a right to blast your ass into oblivion when you answer the door. The guy was stupid, but didn't deserve to die.

Events like this have me seriously considering getting something like a plate carrier that can be kept with the house shotgun and donned quickly.

Where exactly in the Constitution is the qualified immunity clause?

That's a very interesting piece of purely invented legal doctrine.

There was the Iraq Vet in Arizona (I think); we discussed the story on here (video is around somewhere). Entry team came to the wrong house, didn't identify them properly, and he went down defending himself with an AR.

And no prosecutions.

Until one Entry team is wiped out by someone that is "prepared" in the wrong house or they are all up on murder charges, this will never change.

already there.

Considering installing a 3 foot tall by 8 inch thick reinforced concrete barrier 30 inches behind the door with a murder slit for return fire.
