Re: Russian Ambassador to Turkey Assassinated in Ankara
Russia is already unhappy with Turkey over the shoot down of their fighter earlier in the year. In addition to this, there's been a Russian group in Turkey tying up loose ends after the 2nd Chechen dust up and Beslan. It seems a lot of Chechen fighters ran to Turkey afterwards and BBC has recently run an article about Russians picking them off.
I think this one could get ugly. The big question will be will Teh Donald honor NATO agreements if Putin decides a large part of Turkey "wants to be Russian again."

Well, at least this time it isn't an inbred Austrian archduke...
Remember, folks, you can't spell "douche" without "Che."

Not this time. But one has to wonder... How long before we hit our Archduke Ferdinand moment this go-around?SoupOrMan wrote:Well, at least this time it isn't an inbred Austrian archduke...

Would not be surprised to find out we already have. Just not that we have recognized it for what it was.g-man wrote:Not this time. But one has to wonder... ...which is what really worries me. This kickoff will likely not be along the lines of Pearl Harbor, in a 1-day turnaround. But more likely it will take a year or so for our "Lusitania moment" to follow the "Archduke Ferdinand" one. At some point the latter will (may have already) happen(ed). But we probably won't recognize it as such until the former occurs.

Speed of Telegraph vs. Speed of Internet. Less time lag to develop interpretation WTF.

Just to be clear, the bandwidth might be wider, but the speed of telegraph and internet is the same: 186,000 miles per second, or one foot per nano-second.Old Grafton wrote:Speed of Telegraph vs. Speed of Internet. Less time lag to develop interpretation WTF.
Semaphores, smoke signals, signal flags, telegraph and internet all have the same signal speed. Bandwidth and distance covered might change based on infrastructure and coding structure.
