Yup.

100 years ago, an entirely fictional movie about blacks raping and killing whites led to a resurgence of the KKK. At the peak of the resurgence, the KKK got to about 10x their post-Civil War numbers: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Birth_of_a_Nation

What's going to happen when it's not a movie, but played out on nightly news over and over again, like the planes hitting the WTC?

I don't see his name on the list of those shot or killed.

I'm sure Denham is assisting in some way, but I do know that Livingston Parish and Hammond PD are providing assets to the LSP. I haven't heard anything about Denham specifically yet.

Records released by the military Sunday show that Long served five years in the Marine Corps as a data network specialist, from August 2005 to August 2010. He left active duty as a sergeant, according to the records....
That makes 2 shooters that were military veterans. Which means basic rifle marksmanship, taught by Uncle Sam.

This is going to get really bad, if both the black community and the local governments don't sit down, and have honest & sincere face-to-face talks.
The cops are going to be nervous as hell, and over-react to encounters with black folks. And the blacks will just get angrier.

Black Americans in general have a legitimate issue about how they are treated by police. However, the black community also needs to understand that based on crime statistics, the cops also have a legitimate concern when they have to interact with black folks regarding "Terry" stops, general calls, etc.

What everybody is overlooking is that community based policing works, when the police are accountable to the people via the ballot box. Local sheriffs have known this for years and try to make their offices reflect the general makeup of the community they serve. I note in passing that one of the officers murdered in Baton Rouge yesterday was black man.

I may not be smart enough to have the answer to this problem, but I do have friends and acquaintances who are on the street this morning, both black and white. They're probably being cautious, trying to do the job that they're paid to do without undue risk to themselves or others. The easy answer, for the near future is to team cops in multi-racial pairs, letting the black officer take the lead with black suspects and the white officer take the lead with white suspects.

For managers, this causes them to make choices. You can either double up the shift officers in half the rolling units, effectively halving your ability to patrol the entire area, or you can pay overtime, putting more officers in the units that normally roll on a shift. There is a trade-off either way, and I've seen it done both ways. One is inefficient, the other is expensive.

I'm in Baton Rouge and can confirm that shit is getting weird. However, it's not that weird. What I mean is that the locals are upset, but not violent. The fucker who murdered the police officers was from out of state. This seems to be setting up a pattern. I am seeing out of state actors come in stir shit up and bail. Another good example are the BLM asshats. They aren't local to BR and I can say that they seem to be having a negative effect on the conversation. I think that local government should refuse them access. Only talk to local citizens and representatives. Not sure it will help much, but it's better than nothing.

Nothing new in that. The small private college in my home town (Iowa) had a sizable majority of black students in the late 60's. Bunch of the Panther Brothers from Chicago came down once to liberate them. They were met at the train station by every black student and told to get their ass back on the train to Chi Town.

I'm not saying my home town was a paradise of racial harmony. But blacks and Hispanics could eat, drink and shop in any establishment in town (although, like any town, a few drinking establishments I wouldn't recommend) and so far as I know they weren't particularly harassed by the local LE (that was reserved for us smart-ass local "punks" ;) ). We never had any issues I was aware of, and such things don't stay hidden in a small community.
