I've heard of it, It has been used on people they suspect of having a "suicide vest". Usually in the Middle East though.

I agree with the "preplanned" concept. Comments in the newspaper about double tap fire would tend to support that. I'm now waiting to find out if they are home grown McVeys or ISIS sponsored.

Or perhaps I've had a touch too much sun. 8-)

Video from BBC

Sure as hell doesn't look like a gang banger or Inshallah tactics. Not ruling out an ISIS inspiration, but that looks like .mil or equivalent training to me.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

Former Army Reservist Micah Johnson is the shooter who was killed by Dallas Police.

Sonofabitch used an SKS. How interesting is that?

And, he was blown up by the Dallas PD. They sent in a robot with a bomb, which may be the first time a civil LEO organization has done that. Lots of fodder for thought. He used an SKS and was killed by an IED.

Where did you learn it was an SKS?

Also read he was equipped with an SKS, sidearm and body armor.

The SKS was mentioned in John in Longview's link. An interesting choice, to be sure.

Under the circumstances, using the tried-and-true "MARCbot, duct tape and claymore" trick isn't terribly disturbing or surprising. Extraordinary violence receives extraordinary response.

More reasonable, IMO, than letting him get away and then setting up an ambush around his mailbox.

Cheap, reliable, available. Easy to accessorize. With the mag removed, doesn't look like an "assault rifle".

The SKS-D model will accept standard AK mags.
