A rather excellent followup to the one I have posted a few times before:

See my sig line. If the government is going to pick and choose which laws it wants to enforce, then I'm sure as hell not going to comply with a blatantly unconstitutional measure.

Same as they do in CT, NY and everywhere else it happens. Most will comply. A few will quietly put them away for safe keeping. Of those, an unlucky few will be discovered when the man happens to be in their life for some other reason. The guns get confiscated and the authorities make a show of those who have done something dumb enough to put the offender beyond the sympathy of even other gun owners.

+1

The us.gov could put me away for more time on only 10% of the federal statutes violated by the Hildabeest than if I set up a machine shop, put happy switches on all my ARFs, and took out a full page ad in the NYT offering a 4th of July sale.

Yet, she stands a good chance of becoming the chief enforcer of US laws.

I can't say it any better than Dr. Wolf, cousin of BHO:
Selective enforcement of the law is the first sign of tyranny. A government empowered to determine arbitrarily who may operate outside the rule of law invariably embraces favoritism as friends, allies and those with the best-funded lobbyists are rewarded. Favoritism inevitably leads to corruption, and corruption invites extortion. Ultimately, the rule of law ceases to exist in any recognizable form, and what is left is tyranny.

America’s founders rejected that road to tyranny when they boldly declared that all men are created equal. They wrote a Constitution meant to secure the promise of equal protection under the law.

Of course, there is another old us.gov document that tells a similar story and bears re-reading. After all, we are coming up on it's 240th birthday - yes, that's the American holiday we celebrate by grilling German sausages and drinking German beer: http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charte ... cript.html

If everyone on this board reads it out loud to their guests at the 4th of July, it will be a start.

Kinda depends on where they want to start enforcing the laws, doesn't it? They might get away with it in New York or Massachusetts. Be interesting to see how far they get in Texas, Wyoming, etc.

They won't actively enforce anything, anywhere. They will take what they can get from compliance, followed MAYBE by some strongly worded letters and bureaucratic headaches, and subsequently make an example of any hold outs who happen to invite the man into their lives for one reason or another.

The problem is it is generational. If they destroy the notion in young people that you have a right to own this and that, and they grow up thinking it is wrong to have this and that. Then they call the cops on Grandpa saying he has this evil black rifle around.

You don't live in Alabama, do you? These are the folks who say "We ain't still fighting the War Between the States, but we did hang on to our Confederate money, in case we decide to fight it over again, and it comes out different the second time."

And it's not just folks my age, it's folk my grandkids' age, as well. Can't see many of the teenagers I know rolling over on parents or grandparents.

Especially since they have "assault weapons" of their own.

As is the case in large swaths of NC, SC, TN, KY, GA, FL and more...
