I think he is meant to lead an ill-fated colony.

Now, if we could just get him to lead his followers to an undeserving jungle...

Sanders' entire function is to make Shrillary seem like the more rational, safe, and more palatable candidate.
The rank and file Dumocrats haven't been reading their talking points memos, and so a certain percentage of them are voting for the open communist out of sheer reflex.
