Northern Marianas asking for a whupping

Post by Cybrludite »

In response to their handgun ban being overturned, they double-down by putting a $1,000 tax on handguns. In the comments, someone suggested that the precident set by the judicial smack-down that will ensue (no pun intended) could be used to get rid of the NFA tax stamp requirement. That would be an amusing insult to injury type thing, wouldn't it?

This should be fun to watch. Like swatting a fly with a Buick.

Play stupid games, and we'll win prizes of liberty. Now if only they'll fly the responsible parties halfway back to the US, and then kick them off the plane. Preferably low and slow enough that they can contemplate their demise.

Now, if we can get rid of the NFA tax, that would just be delicious. But if it stands, which is likely only possible if Satan himself is the judge, I'm certain that Dianne Feinstein and her ilk will be salivating at the idea of passing the same law here on the mainland.

Well that's what the tax stamp was for anyway. $200 was a *lot* of money in the early 30's.

If it stands, it will be amusing to watch their crime statistics.

And, isn't this just special:
While there are exceptions for law enforcement, some government employees and military personnel, violations of the proposal could incur as much as a 15-year prison sentence. Possession of a single handgun cartridge without a valid license alone could bring a $2,500 fine.
The "Only Ones" are exempt.
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D

Someone's about to get "intruded" in a very real and legal fashion. It may take our best surgeons five hours to remove ze smile from his face.

The great news about this is any ruling against the tax here would strike at the NFA
