)&$(68 Spammers

There should be the death penalty for whomever sells private numbers of business people and drone strikes on their overseas call centers.

Surely we can find a link between terrorists and those a holes

I'd rather focus on the folks who are putting out ransom-ware. That shit is odious.

How does ransom ware work?

They spoof a user into clicking a link or opening an e-mail attachment that infects their computer, often encrypting the data and locking it out from the users access. They then charge a ransom (usually in bit coins) to have the computer unlocked and data de-crypted.

A couple of hospitals have been hit recently, and I think one paid 6 figures plus in order to get their patient records back.
...even before I read MHI, my response to seeing a poster for the stars of the latest Twilight movies was "I see 2 targets and a collaborator".

You open a link, and it infects your computer, steals all your documents, pictures, files. Then you get an email that unless you pay them a specified amount in bitcoin by a set time-period, Your files go bye-bye.

I've known individuals who get hit with this, businesses, and even small cities. The amount of the ransom is contingent on the size of the file dump. Individuals normally are asked for $50-200. Business $500-up, and one small town I'm aware of was hit for several thousand dollars.

The culprits are believed to come from Russia, China, India, etc. It's a very tough enforcement environment.
