I suspect there's a lot of lying to pollsters going on in some states..... 8-)

Two thoughts: 1) I'm surprised Kentucky is so low. 2) I'm surprised Texas is even a lot lower. Like you said, probably a lot of lying.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Seriously, some stranger calls you up or knocks on your door and asks if you've got guns and you TELL them? I might say, "One, and if you're not off my doorstep in 5 seconds, I'll show it to you."

Also, .mil and ex .mil are significantly skewing the HI numbers...

One of those pollsters called me a few years ago when I still had a home phone. Of course I told him I didn't own guns. So that's one house for sure.

Meh.

The salient statistic is that there are nominally some 300M guns in circulation in the US, and the population is just north of the same number, so the overall average is one gun@.

So as I'm perusing the inventory of Battery Aesop (and I'm sure the same thing applies for most of the frequent posters here), the inescapable statistical reality is that somewhere there's a small town(s) that's entirely gun-free.

Large cities are going to skew it downwards for the state... I would like to see county by county percentages, I would bet that some of the counties surrounding me are above 80%.

I lie my ass off when talk turns to guns and there are people I don't explicitly trust present. I make shit up, I false flag, I misdirect, I change the subject. I don't even care if the shit I spew is consistent from conversation to conversation. I only have stickers of sports teams on the back of my Jeep. When my landlord saw my safe, I told him about my previous fires (both true!!!!) and made up some shit about degrees, copies of wills, family pictures, service records, etc.

That someone would lie on a survey is not only a good idea, but for me its the first thing I think of.

That being said, MT is probably pretty close, I suspect Alaska is close, and everybody else outside of New England lied their asses off.

I'd like to see NYS without NYC. That's gotta be driving the number down significantly. Not that NY is loaded with guns mind you, but almost everyone I know has at least one...
