The difference is between depraved self-interest and committed evil.

What, exactly, is that difference outside of cartoons?Netpackrat wrote:The difference is between depraved self-interest and committed evil.

Maybe nothing, but depraved self-interest might not always do the wrong thing. Committed evil is evil.Jericho941 wrote:What, exactly, is that difference outside of cartoons?Netpackrat wrote:The difference is between depraved self-interest and committed evil.

This. I'll probably pull for trump, especially since for a change the R may have a shot in NJ.Netpackrat wrote:Maybe nothing, but depraved self-interest might not always do the wrong thing. At least we can't say we got someone shoved up our ass by the RNC, unlike the last few cycles.

Have to disagree there. While he wasn't the one they were trying put there, their actions directly caused him to be the one who is forced upon us.MarkD wrote:This. Also included lesser offense is that this doesn't put us in a position where they nominate an also-ran and thereby fully commit themselves to party Seppuku.

This is my attitude precisely. I did my civic duty and voted for Cruz in the Maryland primary, I'll cheerfully support Trump in the general election. At least he's pro-American...as opposed to either Dem, who will sell us down the river in a heartbeat.Netpackrat wrote:There's a bunch of liberal shitheads in Austin and elsewhere who are hoping very much that you do.JustinR wrote:I forgot to add, I'll be writing in Ted Cruz. I hate the democrats/socialists a whole lot more than I hate an opportunistic bastard like Trump.
Trump is a JFK Democrat. HRC is an Obama Democrat. There's a big difference.

That pretty much sums up why I hold my nose and vote R. It's the lesser of two slopes.Netpackrat wrote:Maybe nothing, but depraved self-interest might not always do the wrong thing. Most assuredly. Trump is to the RNC what Obama was to the DNC in 2008, someone who came out of nowhere politically, rallied the masses, gave them a message they could get behind, and got people out to vote. We had McCain and Romney, the D's had Gore and Kerry, among the four about as interesting as turnips. Trumps message is a LITTLE less reliant on unicorn farts and fairy dust than O's hope-and-change, and as a businessman Trump understands that money has to come from somewhere. If he screws the nation up it'll be by accident, not by design has O has been doing and HRC will continue to do.g-man wrote:Have to disagree there. I think we'll see some changes to the Republican primary process next time around.
Another thing, for all his faults Trump isn't stupid. He may well pick a running mate based on Cruz' popularity. Maybe not Cruz, but someone who will bring out the Cruz supporters, someone who might be groomed to run for the White House in 2020 or 2024 (I'm not convinced Trump would go for a second term if he won the first, he's just it for kicks.)
