This strikes me as possibly the single worst idea I have ever heard.

This is like something straight out of Futurama, where a corrupt Nixon's head rules the planet.

+1 on both Randy's and Durham's comments.

What an arrogant, worthless prick Dear Leader continues to demonstrate himself to be.

It's purely instrumental. For a purpose.

Because his side is, in a million different ways large and small, better set up to cheat (and as a perversely brilliant bonus, they've arranged so they can use taxpayer money to PAY for the cheating). And this idea will not only encourage cheating, it will make it expected and required.

Not to play devil's advocate, but simply to ask a question.

Doesn't Australia require mandatory voting?

In the link to Fox news Obama refers to mandatory voting in Australia.

Since it came out of his mouth odds favor it being a lie.

Mandatory voting would probably not be limited to legal citizens because that would be racist.

hmmm...

If all those republicans that stayed home rather than vote for McCain had been forced to vote...

Wasn't it the republicans that pushed for a presidential term limit because of FDR. Then were not so happy when they couldn't keep re-electing Reagan?
