Re: Amazon Apparently Contemplating Leaving Seattle
Baltimore has their bid in, of course. There's already a big distribution center, and Under Armour's head honcho is building a ginormous industrial park as well. Reports are that there will be a big tax deal for them if they move here (Like nobody else has thought of offering that). And we all know how low Maryland taxes and crime rates are, and how great Baltimore's schools are... The city council would LOVE to have them here, to prop up the sagging tax base. And it don't get much "bluer" than Baltimore, they haven't elected a Republican mayor since 1963.

Detroit anyone? Bwahahaha. Let the new generation of Socialist experience the natural endpoint of their utopian vision firsthand and see if they can do any better.

Newark, NJ has it's hat in the ring with tax incentives. Talk about high taxes and uneducated work force....

I think it boils down to any major metro area with a hub airport, so a lot of these areas are wishful thinking.

They were apparently dismayed that Anchorage isn't putting in a bid, so a couple of women who run a furniture store and a former TV news anchor are doing it themselves:

We don't have the sort of population base Amazon says they are looking for, but we definitely have the airport hub facility.

I vote for Detroit as well. Perhaps a well-educated and motivated population employed by an enlightened corporation can bring that city around where the elected Democrats and the powerless Republicans could not over the last sixty years.
The use of the word "but" usually indicates that everything preceding it in a sentence is a lie.
E.g.:
"I believe in Freedom of Speech, but". . .
"I support the Second Amendment, but". . .
