What is this garment called?

Post by Denis »

I am trying to find a replacement for the casualwear garment in the photo, which happens to be an old Ralph Lauren/Polo item.

It is of heavy cotton cloth, long-sleeved with slightly elastic cuffs, a soft collar and soft (rubber) buttons. I would call it a "rugby jersey", but searches on that are only bringing up the kind of thing actually worn for sports use, containing synthetic fibres, and those are also usually emblazoned with ugly crests and advertising.

I'd appreciate a tip about what to search for online, and especially suggestions about where to order something similar in a large size (probably US 2XL or 3XL).

Thanks!

Rugby shirt.

Polo shirt is short sleeve with the mesh knit fabric, beloved of suburban dads everywhere.

Rugby shirt or long sleeved polo.
There must be an end to this intimidation by those who come to this great country, but reject its culture.

Yep. Rugby shirt. You may need to go to specific merchant websites to find what you want instead of doing a general web search.
