The problem with being a free lancer is that you need a tax accountant, a lawyer, and a banker in your corner. On average you need enough cash to last three years before you hit break even. It might be a good idea to bone up on market research to see if the field you are going into will provide a cash flow from the start.

I recently did a freelance job without a written contract. And he's right. I got stiffed for a good chunk of changes. No contract, no "F*ck you. Pay me!"
Note to self: start reading sig lines. They're actually quite amusing. :D
